Instructors

Luke Allen-Hitting Instructor
Luke Allen brings his 12 years of experience playing professional Major League Baseball to Game Time. Playing in the big leagues of MLB does not make you a good instructor, but taking what you have learned from others such as Tommy Lasorda, Mickey Hatcher, Gene Richards, and Ted Williams and being able to break it down on a personal level to improve future major leaguers, does. Luke has a special ability to take a player at any level, and be able to connect with them to help them improve their fundamentals of the game and reach their maximum potential.

Luke is a Newton County native, playing his baseball at Newton County High school before moving on to the big leagues to play for the Dodgers, Rockies, Padres, Red Soxs, and Angels. Luke was an allstar at each A, AA, and AAA levels before making it to the big leagues.

“I focus on the proper techniques to play the game by implementing drills that focus on muscle memory. Point of contact to hit a baseball is my main focus. A player with the right techniques can go a long way in this game.”

Felicia Lowe-Hitting Instructor
For girls in the Atlanta area wanting to improve their game to play at the next level, there is not a better instructor with a better resume than Felicia. Both a former player and coach for Georgia Tech softball, Felicia knows what it takes for girls to get to the NCAA level to play as she has been on “both sides of the fence.” While coaching for GT, Felicia was the recruiting coordinator for future young prospects.

Still today, Felicia holds the highest fielding percentage of any Tech player at .982, is 5th in triples, and 7th in total runs scored. As a player, Felicia helped lead Tech to their first ever ACC title and a school record 52 wins.

Being trained under one of the most sought after hitting instructors in the country, Missouri Coach Ehren Earleywine, Felicia brings this same detailed style to Game Time.

“Learning where girls are at in their current level of the game, I want to help them get to the next level by developing them step by step in each aspect of the game.”

Andy Mitchell-Pitching Instructor
Pitching is as much mental as it is physical. Not only will you learn proper mechanics of pitching to improve command and velocity, but also the “chess match” part of the game. Our new baseball pitching instructor, Andy Mitchell, will use his ten years of professional baseball experience to help young players improve. The many MLB stars and coaches that he has played with over the years have impacted an already solid knowledge of pitching. He has taken parts of each experience in his career to build a bank of knowledge to pass on to young pitchers.

From pitching in Rockdale Dixie Youth leagues to Heritage High School in Conyers, GA to NCAA ball at Georgia Tech and into his professional career with the Baltimore Orioles organization, Andy has competed at high levels. During his baseball career he has accumulated many accolades and awards. In 1997, Andy pitched in the High School All-Star tournament for Team Georgia and made the All-Tournament Team. At Georgia Tech in 2000, he was a major part of the ACC Championship team. 2001 started Andy’s professional baseball career when he was signed by the Baltimore Orioles.

Over his ten year professional career he has worked his way up to the highest level in AAA. After six seasons at this level, he has won Pitcher of the Year awards, Most Inspirational Player award, and Andy has led his team in Wins a number of seasons. Through all of this pitching and many innings of baseball, Andy has been blessed never to have had arm problems or an injury. This can be credited to sound mechanics and proper preparation when the competition starts. This is what Andy will bring to his lessons here at GameTime.

Christy Baugh-Fastpitch Pitching Instructor
Christy is passionate about instructing young girls the proper mechanics of pitching as she had to relearn to pitch at age thirteen. Growing up playing softball, Christy learned how to “throw” at a young age from volunteer coaches and anyone else who could point her in the right direction while playing the game. Never taking formalized pitching lessons, Christy’s talent and drive helped her develop into a good pitcher. At age 13, she started taking formalized lessons to give her the proper techniques to take her from a “good thrower” to a “great pitcher.”

Seeing the harm by not taking lessons from a qualified instructor early on, Christy works with young girls to make sure they are pitchers and not just throwers with the right mechanics.

Growing up, Christy played fastpitch softball in the Atlanta area for different travel teams and then played at the NCAA level for Gordon College. She develops young pitchers in both their mental and physical game.

“A strong pitcher can develop into a great pitcher by knowing the game and knowing how to keep batters off balance by proper pitch selection and proper placement. The mental aspect is as important as the physical aspect.”
